John Hudetz Photography is more than just me, John Hudetz. Even though I am the primary photographer  I'm strongly supported by my wife Elizabeth, who serves as my personal assistant and 2nd shooter on many weddings along with our studio manager, Austin, who keeps everything running. We also have an associate photographer, Ben,  who is fully credentialed as a professional photographer, has worked with me to learn how to shoot in my style and books out at a reduced rate. We are based in Fort Collins, Colorado primarily serving Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region.  However, we also  travel the planet, with special emphasis in the Chicagoland and Fairfield, CT areas where we travel with reduced travel fees due to family connections in those areas.

My personal photographic vision for wedding photography has me focusing on two types of images during a wedding day; "photojournalistic" images and "created" images.

"Photojournalistic" images are images where my subject(s) are not camera aware. They might be aware of my near-by presence, but for the moment they are not focused on me.  I like to work the majority of the day not directing people, or interacting with my clients. I like allowing things to naturally unfold without attention to me so that I can better capture the reality of the moment, hopefully in an organic, artistic way. Often I tell my clients, "Just focus on each other, ignore me, and we'll get some great pictures."

"Created" images are where my subject(s) are very aware of the camera and my presence, and we are actually working together to create images. The best example of this is formals, family portraits and special romantic pictures of the wedding couple. I enjoy this part of the day as well and often employ special lighting equipment for more dramatic effects. Some brides will put more of an emphasis on this type of imagery and others will minimize it. It's a personal choice. But even with "created" images my number one goal is to get my subject(s) relaxed and feeling more casual about these images than stiff or over-posed.

Prior to photographing weddings full-time I was a professional sports photographer, photographing many NFL football games as well as  being a news photojournalist and magazine editorial photographer. All this past experience has benefited me tremendously in anticipating the key moments of a wedding day as well as staging the dramatic fashion-style bridal portrait. I also have received International recognition for my fine art photography and was featured in a fine art photography exhibit at Denver International Airport in 2008. I also have been   working on a personal photography project , since 2002, documenting Cuba, its people and culture.

If photography is as important to you as it is to me and we come to share a space together, I will do my very best to visually document the experience of life I find in you.
